Dr. McKellar is an Orthopedic Surgeon who completed his training at the University of Arizona in 1990 under the tutelage of Dr Robert Volz, one of the early innovators of joint replacement surgery. He has maintained a general orthopedic surgery practice with emphasis on primary and revision of total knee and total hip for over 25 years. He has served in multiple hospital leadership roles including director of Joint Replacement Programs, Chief of Surgery, and Chief of Staff with a career long emphasis on quality and standardization of outcomes in joint replacement surgery. An early adopter of computer assisted surgery, he maintains a keen interest in utilization of evolving technology in hip and knee reconstruction.
Prior to pursuing his residency training, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Texas at Austin in 1975 and received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston in 1983. He lived and practiced in Tennessee until 2016 at which time he and his wife of over 40 years, Michele, returned home to be nearer to their family. Michele and he enjoy adventure travel, playing with grandchildren, and exploring Texas with their friends and family.
Dr. McKellar is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, member of the American Medical Association, and other state medical and orthopedic associations.
